Understanding Frailty

Frailty is a distinctive health state in which multiple body systems gradually lose their in-built reserves. A person who has frailty is at higher risk of adverse health outcomes from small stressors.  British Geriatric Society (2014) .  

This 3 hr face to face course will help you understand frailty and how to prevent it.   You will learn how to recognise and assess frailty and consider best practice for a person who has frailty.   You will be able to recognise when the person with frailty is palliative and may be entering end of life.

This training is suitable for all healthcare professionals working with people with frailty.

The aims of this course are to:

  • Understand frailty and how to prevent it.
  • Understand how to recognising and assess a person for frailty
  • Understand best practice for a person who has frailty
  • Recognise when a person with frailty is palliative
  • Recognise when a person maybe entering end of life with frailty

Cost:  This course is free of charge to those working in Sussex as fully funded by Sussex ICB  or £50.
